The Fanaddixx Group Welcomes
Alex Band

Alex Band
Alex Band
Some of you may know Alex Band from the group The Calling whose first single "Wherever You Will Go" was named the #1 song of the decade on the adult pop charts by Billboard magazine.  If not, do yourself a favor and go pick up both of the bands albums and then wait like I am ~ VERY IMPATIENTLY ~ for Alex's solo release coming out June 29th.

It was by complete chance that I heard of Alex Band.  I got a flyer in the mail from Columbia House...."Since you bought.....you might like......" I bought the album on a whim and because I liked the cover art. I bought four albums that day but Alex Band is the only artist I still follow. What captured me immediately was his voice.  It's deep and beautiful.  I was shocked when I saw a music video and saw how young he was. His voice and lyrics have such depth and maturity to them that it was unexpected to see it coming out of this young blond skater looking dude.

Enjoy the video below to see what I mean...

A Passion for LIFE....

One of the things I admire the most about Alex is his passion for his chosen charity.  His now ex-wife became critically ill during thier marriage and desperately needed a liver transplant. She was wait listed and the experiance inspired Alex to devote his time and energies to the Donate Life organization and help them build organ donor awareness.  Alex does at least one yearly “Alex Band Donate Life Rocks Concerts” to promote organ donation and Alex’s fans do a yearly calendar sale with pictures from all his concerts from the previous year with proceeds going to Donate Life America. Alex has done dozens of interviews on radio and TV talking about the importance of organ donation and he never misses an opportunity to spread the message.

On His Own Terms....

Alex Band CD Cover Art
Alex Band has gone thru the musical ringer and has come out the other side with a devoted following, his own record label and a hard earned album to be released June 29th, 2010. He was first signed at the age of 15, put out two amazing albums as the lead singer of The Calling, bought out his own contract, started a solo career, survived a "restructuring" with his new label, lost his long time manager, ("I realized the that I had to make a serious leap of faith and believe in myself. I decided that, if I'm gonna fail, I'd rather fail doing what I want to do") and finally took his own money to purchase the album master and created his own label.

The new album "We've All Been There" charts the course of a relationship from meeting and falling in love to starting anew after the love affair ends.  The first single "Tonight" is now in rotation and has been used in the CW series The Vampire Diaries.  The video (featured at the top of the media gallery page) shows a supernatural love story with Alex playing a vampire and doing his own stunts. "I didn't want to write a conventional love," he recalls. "I wanted it to have some weirder meaning... and this was before the resurgence of the vampire love story, but I'd just seen the movie Underworld, and I thought it would be cool and different to write about a vampire trying to win over the girl..." Once again showing that Alex has been ahead of the curve since his career started.

Donate Life America

Organ and tissue transplants offer patients a new chance at healthy, productive, normal lives and return them to their families, friends and communities. You have the power to change someone's world by being a donor. It's about living. It's about LIFE.

Alex Band explains why he supports Donate Life and their mission; "I was turned on to it when my ex-wife was very ill and I think it is so important for people to be aware that they can make a difference in the world even when they are no longer with us. Up to 11 people can be saved from one person being an organ donor. The amount of people who aren't donors or those who don't know about organ donation is still so high. I feel that if you can save a life, you should, and Donate Life does an amazing job at helping those in need of organs."
