And the winner is.....
I know you are all anxiously awaiting the announcement of our 1st Annual Charity Finale winner but you'll just have to wait....or more accurately read the entire note...The answer is somewhat south of here ;-)
In 2009 I had the crazy idea that someone somewhere might be interested in what I considered good music so I started a little newsletter. I think it took me 6 months to get my first 100 subscribers but it was worth all the hard work. In late Nov '09 I approached Mark Masri and asked him if he would be my inaugural artist for the website I was hoping to launch at the 1st of the year.
I was pretty excited when he said yes and at the same time TERRIFIED I would let him down. If I didn't do a good job.....no a GREAT job... than people wouldn't understand why I absolutely adored this singer. So I planned and planned and threw away the plan and started over until I created the site you know today. It was scary good fun and I love how it's turned out.
Since then we have featured 7 absolutely stunning talents and gained a small but devoted fan base. I started the year with no twitter followers and I now have over a hundred.....No Facebook page but now I have one and it has 167 fans......1213 subscribers up from just under 400.... I can't tell you how much I appreciate the response to the site.
I love hearing from you all. I love the stories some of you have shared about how you found me because I featured someone you liked and how you have found new artists that are now at the top of your play list. I love the email I got from a fella in Australia who found my site thanks to "stumbleupon" and was introduced to Bob Malone who happened to be in a city near him only a month later. I love the wonderful people I've met and gone to concerts with all thanks to Fanaddixx.
This entire project has been a wonderful journey of self discovery. I've learned more about my own taste in music in the last year than in the last 30. It's amazing how having to write about an artist and promote them every day of the week quickly shows you whose music you are truly passionate about.
This year I gave almost 100 cd's.....35 of them during our "12 Days of Christmas". I hope to double that next year. Right now I have lined up another 7 artists but hope to double that by the end of 2011. What will be neat this year are some of these amazing musicians are ones YOU introduced me to. Your suggestions for new artists and for the site have been greatly appreciated. I want to keep expanding our Fanaddixx family and make the site a place you want to keep coming back to. Keep those suggestions coming...
Thanks again for all your support. 2010 was amazing but 2011 will be FAN'TASTIC!!!
