Fanaddixx Cares....

Helping Hands for Charity
Each month we ask our Featured Artist what charities they support. The answers we've received are as varied as the artists themselves.  The music we've been given is such a gift that, along with sharing our love of the music with the unsuspecting web surfer, we also want to help change the world in a more significant way. Feeding a child, bringing fresh water to a community, helping save local libraries, saving a pug, or just supporting your church can take as little as a dollar a month.

In these times I realize some don't have a dollar to give but if you take your time to help promote a charity you ARE helping to give someone somewhere a better life.   Okay end of lecture.  If you're interested, here are links to a few charities recommended to us by friends and Featured Artists.

A Change in Plans....

Each time we feature an artist we ask the what charity they support and then we throw ourselves into promoting that charity. Each artist has given us a worthy cause that I have been proud to promote from Mark Masri's "World Vision" to Alex Band's "Donate Life"

At this time of year it always occurs to me that there is some family in my neighborhood or town that could use my help putting a holiday meal on the table.  I am ashamed that it almost only occurs to me during the holidays or when I see a canned food drive.  In the effort to change this about myself and to bring awareness to others I am making Feeding America Fanddixx's official charity.

We will still be supporting the charities and foundations that our artist feel strongly about and we hope that when stop here you will find a cause that will touch your heart and inspire you.

It Gets Better....

It Gets Better Logo
More than a catch phrase "It Gets Better" has become movement to help those that are suffering at the hands of bullies.  Over the last several months there has been story after story about someone taking their life after suffering thru the alienation and pain of bullying.  This is particularly true for the LGBT kid and teens.

In September 2010, syndicated columnist and author Dan Savage created a YouTube video with his partner Terry to inspire hope for young people facing harassment.  In response to the number of students taking their own lives after being bullied in school, they wanted to create a personal way for supporters everywhere to tell LGBT youth that, yes, it does indeed get better.

Just a few days ago Brendan James uploaded his own It Gets Better video and is doing his part in getting the word out there to all youths, IT GETS BETTER.  Whether you are being bullied because of your sexual orientation or because you are a "nerd" or a "poet in black" there is hope out there.

There is a quote from his video that I would like to share because I think it is the lesson we all need to learn; "...what is unique about you is what's going to make you succeed in this world, so hold on to that..."

Please take a moment to watch the video below and then go to the It Gets Better Project website and find out what you can do to make a difference.

Feeding America

Feeding America Logo
In many ways, America is the land of plenty. But for 1 in 6 Americans, hunger is a reality. Many people believe that the problems associated with hunger are confined to small pockets of society, certain areas of the country, or certain neighborhoods, but the reality is much different.

Right now, millions of Americans are struggling with hunger. We all know and are in contact with people affected by hunger, even though we might not be aware of it.

These are often hard-working adults, children and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days. Most of us simply have no idea. It’s time to educate ourselves about the causes of hunger in America.

Holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas seem to revolve around food....and giving.  Why not give to your local food bank and help families in your area have a meal to remember.  Food banks take donations of cash and canned goods.  Click HERE to find a Food Bank in your area to support!
