The Fanaddixx Group Welcomes
Canadian Crooner Matt Dusk
I'd like to know what they are putting in the water in Canada. So many amazing artists....Matt Dusk being one of my favorites. Another of my favorite Canadians, you might have heard of him; Michael Buble, introduced me to this amazing singer. In an interview, which I am ashamed to say I cannot cite, Michael mentioned that he liked Matt's music. After reading that I kept my eyes and ears open and surprise surprise I soon heard Matt's cover of "The Best is Yet to Come" on Martini in the Morning. I immediately liked how he took what many consider a Frank Sinatra classic and completely made it his own. Since then I have managed to get my hands on all his records and discovered that while he is a singer of the standards he is also a great songwriter and is able to spin what most people would consider "pop" songs into a contemporary new jazz sound.
Giving Good Tweet....
In the past year I have joined the social media revolution with accounts on Twitter and Facebook and Matt Dusk is one of my favorite people to follow. He has a wicked sense of humor, chat's with his fans and has fun with games and contests. There was the "Glee" competition, (which I did not enter as I didn't want to be responsible for forever ruining his hearing) and Christmas caroling via twitter to name a couple. Lots of fun and laughter later, a lucky lady won the right to join Matt on stage and sing a duet and I knew the words to yet another Christmas tune.
A whiskey aficionado and a gear-head Matt Dusk is more than just a crooner that can woo his female audience. Besides you have to love any singer who frequently compares the "...joy of making music to the joy of making love... You don't know why you like it, you just do! That's what I live for - that massive musical orgy between me and my audience."

It's All Good....
Born and raised in Toronto Canada, Matt Dusk was accepted into the St. Michael's Choir School where he studied classical music and opera for 11 years. After a chance encounter with a couple of Tony Bennett and Sarah Vaughan records Matt switched musical gears. He calls his introduction to the sounds of Big Bands "Music to my ears....love at first sight." In 1998 Matt won the top spot in the Canadian National Exhibition Rising Star Competition and in 1999 changed his major at Toronto's York University from economics to a BFA in music. In 2002 Matt graduated with an honors degree in music after studying jazz theory with John Gittins, jazz vocal with Bob Fenton and attending a masterclass with jazz piano legend Oscar Peterson.
After doing his part to reanimate the great American songbook with his albums "Two Shots" and "Back in Town", Matt has released the fabulous Jazz/Pop album "Good News". On his website it is described as "...A fool-proof stroke of shape-shifting, era-leaping, cross-continental aural electricity..." It's a pretty fancy way of say that this album takes pop and jazz and fuses them with Matt's vocal stylings to come up with an album that every track is a winner. And just in case his fans thinks he lost touch with his jazz/standards roots there is a fantastic rendition of Johnny Mercer's "One For My Baby". I don't know how it could get better than this.....except that Matt Dusk live is the real deal.

To plagiarize directly from his site; "The records are a mere souvenir of him trying to capture that lightning of energy exchange in an audio bottle. "When you're around people who love music as much as you, that's the moment I love and the moment I dread ever losing. I'm not trying to change the world. I'm just an entertainer who wants to bring a little jazz into the mainstream. With Good News, I was looking for ways that I could bring my audience with me outside of the pure jazz genre."
